“We sit on broken blocks to write…” – Abolato Basic School children, Bolga East District

No, what you are seeing is not staged.., this is the true state of the Abolato Basic School inside Zuarungu Nyorkoko in the newly created Bolga East District in the Upper East Region.

According to a Gaspard Ayuureneeya, school children between the ages of 6 to 12 use broken blocks in the absence of tables and chairs to write in class. Some who are not so strong to carry their own blocks to class have to make do with the bare floor during lesson hours.

Students constantly complain of torn dresses, tiredness and back pains as a result of sitting on these broken building blocks. “We sit on broken blocks to write and this pieces of blocks keep tearing our clothes”, the students complained.

The Abolato Basic School in Zuarungu Nyorkoko is a Getfund project which was awarded 8 years ago but has since stalled for lack of funds. The school is currently in dire need of tables and chairs for both pupils and the teachers and also teaching and learning materials.

We are calling on all well-meaning Ghanaians and philanthropists to come to the aid of the school. Please call Boudaonline.com on +233249223022 for further information on how to help these Children.
