Sene: NPP Chairman, 2 others Arrested Over Police Station Attack

The Atebubu Magistrate Court in the Brong Ahafo Region presided by His Worship, Joseph Nasigri has remanded Mr. Augustine Boadu, a polling station chairman for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Akyeremade into police custody for allegedly leading a mob attack on the Sene West District Police headquarters.

Two Community Protection police personnel Gyan Simon and Akwasi David who believed to leak information to the attackers were also remanded to re -appear on the 29th May, 2018.

Augustine was arrested from his hideout after the attack on the police station, last Monday. The surprise attack on the district Police headquarters at Kwame Danso resulted in the beating up of some officers and the  freeing of four suspects in custody.

The four residents of Akyeremade were arrested for their involvement in the attack of Sisala indigenes in the area during which about 200 bags of their charcoal were destroyed.

Residents incensed by the arrest of the four stormed the Police station in three fully loaded trucks, fully armed and caused the mayhem.

Public Relations Officer for the Brong Ahafo Regional Police command, Chief Inspector Augustine Oppong told XYZ News, the community policemen in question assisted the residents with vital information that helped them carry out the act.

He further revealed calm has returned to Kwame Danso after the attack, adding that the police are in control of the situation.
