…Guy Man is a good song to begin with., the content, delivery, humorous lyrics and rap style adopted by the two acts made the song unique in its own way… No other rapper from the north could have done a better job than what Maccasio did on that track. The message was clear and the chorus., very simple to sing along (Which is what I usually look out for).
I wasn’t surprised with how good the song was cos Soorebia still remains one of the best rap artistes we have from the Upper East Region. Take this from me cos I know what I am talking about.
However, I have some few issues with the song (and this is what I am sure soorebia and those in his camp may not want to hear). Here we go….
… Inasmuch as Soorebia is a good rap artiste by Bolga standards, it takes more than a few punchlines to get the attention of the whole country. Soreebia has the energy and the passion for music but truth be told, his lyrical content can do with some good amount of maturity. This is not to Soorebia alone but to the upcoming artistes from the Upper East Region especially.
Another problem I have with ‘Guy Man’ apart from immature lyrical content is the production. For an artiste of Soorebia’s caliber, beat makers in Bolgatanga shouldn’t be his target for a project like this. Even if there is the need to record with producers from the north, I’m sure there are more experienced beat makers than Azkonna. Blue Beatz or even Best Beatz could have done a better job than Azkonna.
Song is good, but production made it look like one is listening to a demo. Azkonna my guy., I love you man, but u got to up your game….
All in all., I will give the song a 50%. Good job my guy Soorebia… There is still more room for improvement! 🔥🔥
